Uncle Earl: Streak O Lean, Streak O Fat

Total Insanity! Irish jig kung fu gang fight in Chinese restaurant.

Thanks to "pigeatinginfidel", we have the CHinese lyrics translated:
"Braised fatty meat
Some like it, some say No
I love me some braised fatty meat
Don't forget to drink a little liquor
Cup by cup we all get drunk
Dance til the break of day
She dances like a crazy mother in law
She's freakin crazy
She plays that thing like she's starting a revolution
Bring on the braised fatty pork
And don't forget the liquor
Cup by cup we all get drunk
Living like this, how can we go on?
Today we drink, today we're wasted
Long live braised fatty meat!"

Nobel for Medicine 2009: Carol W. Greider's speech

Carol W. Greider's acceptance speech - this is really a scientific lecture of a summary of her genetic work, and runs 50 minutes.. her work in discovering and naming "telomerase", the enzymes in DNA/RNA that relate to aging, rejuvenation, and will help cure cancer by stopping it's telomerase from working by aging them rapidly and killing them by reversing the new growth process.. She's the Stephen Hawking of genetics, and her work will be more ground-breaking than Curie's or Einstein's over time.. the entire biotech and stem cell industry would not exist in present form without her work..

Original Composition: Gone (for Piccolo)

Written for a musician friend named Mandi who was leaving town, and who plays flute, recorder and pennywhistle. This used the piccolo on my Yamaha Digital Grand. When she said it sounded like film music, I put it on a video I made for them called "A Year in Pine Mountain"

Original Composition: Awakening (Midi Version)

Awakening: This was my first composition, done in three hours the day I got my Yamaha Digital Grand synthesizer. This is the original midi file from the keyboard with no alterations, just as I played it myself, errors intact.. I've never had music lessons and can't read or write music notation. I think I was maybe a little too excited by all the instruments available (650 total).

Original Composition: Eulogy (For Angie)

Originally written for the passing of my mother, my 3rd composition, done 2 weeks after getting my Yamaha Digital Grand synthesizer. I renamed it for a rock singing girlfriend who thought it was my best composition. It originally was done with strings and horns, then I ported it into Cakewalk and changed the instruments into guitar and piano so it could be easily performed onstage by a duet.

Western Road Trip Part 2

Some guy from Vancouver called "bpither" posted this at YouTube, I stumbled on it hunting for Herbie Mann's "In Tangier" from his Stone Flute lp, not put on cd for some reason - maybe it's because it was a stony, trippy, meditative music and it's now being censored (they'll say "it didn't sell enough" or some lame excuse).. ANYWAY, great job on the travel video, Mr. BPITHER!! love the editing and music selections! and of course, having been to these locations, love the sights as well..

I've had three dreams that I was a Native American at Vermillion Cliffs, and that's one place I've never been!

Guide to the score used:
Musical Score: Country Song (Pink Floyd) from "Zabriskie Point" (1970). Main theme (Bernard Herrmann) for "Fahrenheit 451" (1966). In Tangier (Herbie Mann) from "Stone Flute" (1970). Main theme (Bernard Herrmann) for "Vertigo" (1958). Prologue (Paul Horn) from "Inside the Taj Mahal" (1968) and "Fanfare for the Common Man" ( by Aaron Copeland (1942)

Dream Academy: Life in a Northern Town (Live, tv)

Doobie Brothers: What a Fool Believes (live)

Doobie Bros w Michael McDonald (their best incarnation), singing Kenny Loggins' What a Fool Believes

Soft Machine: Chloe and the Pirates

This is my favorite Soft Machine music - they used to open for Jimi Hendrix! was he "from the future" or what?? Ethereal and spacey, like cosmic music should be..

Lisa Gerrard: Serenity

Quite simply the greatest singer alive.. Lisa Gerrard of DEAD CAN DANCE, a beautiful video

Why You Don't Want Kids, Part 3

just another ad for not having kids..

Little Feat: Teenage Nervous Breakdown (live)

High octane rock at its best, with Lowell George in his prime on slide guitar

Little Feat: Tripe Face Boogie (live in Paris)

Rare video of Little Live at L'olympia Theatre in Paris, 1975 (bad video, but such an exciting rendition)

Little Feat: Fat Man in the Bathtub

Lowell George was one of the great music talents to die young - Little Feat was one of the best American rock bands and this was one of their best.. Lowell George was first in Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention band.. some of Little Feat's backup singers included Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt..

Sigur Ros: Heima (last part)

Sigur Ros, last part of Heima, live - compared to Nothing Song, this is an anarchist frenzy..

Sigur Ros: The Nothing Song

Sigur Ros "The Nothing Song", live - this was first seen at the end of the movie Vanilla Sky (Cameron Crowe film with Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz) - ethereal, transcendent, wordless, this is a beautiful piece of spiritual creativity, beyond cultures and definition... some of the most universal and cosmic music ever created..

Carlos Santana: Song of the Wind

Just the audio and a still picture, but still one of Santana's most beautiful and lyrical melodies..

Buddy Guy: Sweet Home Chicago

You can definitely hear where Clapton and Hendrix came from in this one song! He also influenced Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Smokin' Joe Kubek, and countless others.. this is SWEET HOME CHICAGO live from Houston..

Fats Waller: This Joint is Jumpin' (and lyrics)

This Joint is Jumpin by Fats Waller

They have a new expression along old Harlem way,
That tells you when a party is ten times more than gay:
To say that things are jumpin' leaves not a single doubt,
That everthing is in full swing when you hear someone shout.
Here 'tis:
The joint is jumpin',
It's really jumpin',
Come in, cats, and check your hats,
I mean this joint is jumpin'!
The piano's thumpin',
The dancers are bumpin',
This here spot is more than hot,
In fact, the joint is jumpin'!
Check your weapons at the door,
Be sure to pay your quarter,
Burn your leather on the floor,
Grab anybody's daughter.
The roof is rockin',
The neighbors knockin',
We're all bums when the wagon comes,
I mean, this joint is jumpin'!
Let it be! Yas!
Burn this joint, boy!
Yas! Oh, my! Yas!
Don't you hit that chick, that's my broad!
Where'd you get that stuff at?
Why, I'll knock you to your knees!
What? Put this cat out of here!
What? Get rid of that pistol! Get rid of that pistol! Yeah! Get rid of it, yas!
Yeah! That's what I'm talkin' about! Ha, ha! Yas!
Now it's really ready!
No, baby, not now, I can't come over there right now.
Yeah, let's do it!
The joint is jumpin',
It's really jumpin'!
Every Mose is on his toes,
I mean this joint is jumpin'!
Uh-oh! No time for talkin',
This place is walkin', yes,
Get your jug and cut the rug,
I think the joint is jumpin'.
Listen! Get your pig feet, bread and gin,
There's plenty in the kitchen!
Who is that that just came in?
Just look at the way he's switchin'!
Aw, mercy, Don't mind the hour,
I'm in power. I've got bail if we go to jail.
I mean this joint is jumpin'!
Don't give your right name, no, no, no, no!

Yardbirds: I'm Not Talking

That's lead guitarist Jeff Beck on the left, and rhythm guitarist Jimmy Paige behind him - this is a terrific song from Mose Allison, the white jazz-blues musician from Tupelo, Mississippi (there's another musician from Tupelo?? LOL -- ELVIS!) This was from about 1964 and was the hottest rock band in the world at the time, maybe ever..

Top reality show prank: Rat Monster

A PETA worker inspects a bio-genetics lab for possible animal rights violations in some experiments there.. this is pretty funny..

Neil Peart: Drum Solo R-30

Good drummers are subtle and understand rhythm, they don't just play fast or hit random notes.. they can also play rock or jazz, as Neil Peart demonstrates here.. all drummers admire this guy

Billy Cobham: Drum Solo II

Cobham is the best drummer I ever heard live, with the Mahavishnu Orchestra.. those jazz drummers don't just go nuts hitting random notes, they understand rhythm.. he really drove the Mahavishnu sound, without him they would have had far less impact.

Terry Bozzio: Drum Solo

I only knew that Terry Bozzio was in the terrific band MISSING PERSONS, but this was under Frank Zappa at YouTube, so did he play with Zappa at one time? I saw Zappa and the Mothers three times, but he was never the drummer...

THIS IS AMAZING video and sound both..

Jeff Beck: My Thing

This is about as hard as anyone can rock without self-imploding! Guys half his age can't even imagine rockin this well.. since Hendrix, Beck has been the rockin-est guitarist bar none..

Malcolm in the Middle used this song - during a baseball game, Malcolm wanted to get mom, the umpire, and they played this as he rounded the bases..

Otis Redding: Can't Turn You Loose (live)

The most exciting R&B song ever, and the most dynamic live singer.. My mom knew him from the Macon GA airport, he lived in nearby Grey GA.. was only 26 when he died, that was a tough one to get over cuz I met him and son Otis Jr, and he gave me his LIVE IN EUROPE lp.. Janis Joplin's favorite live performer, she styled herself after him. LIVE from ENGLAND, and not a lip sync.
